At the age of sixteen, Grigory Sokolov won the Moscow Tchaikovsky Competition. Prodigy? What can we say then about her protege Alexandra Dovgan who, at the same age, has gone beyond the stage of musical competitions for “a long time”! The young Russian is back with Bach, Schubert and Chopin.
Violinist Clara-Jumi Kang is an artist of supreme musicianship, impeccable refinement, and poise, as evidenced by the numerous awards and honors she has received since bursting onto the scene by winning the Indianapolis International Violin Competition in 2010, following successes at the Seoul Violin Competition (2009) and the Sendai Violin Competition (2010).
Her cycle of Beethoven violin sonatas with pianist Sunwook Kim, released by Accentus last season, received excellent reviews and nominations.
