An intelligently structured program by a discreet but provenly talented piano master. Publisher Jacques Durand made this remark upon receiving the first pages of what would ultimately constitute the two books listed under the name Images of Debussy: "Without false vanity, I believe that these three pieces stand together and will take their place in piano literature..., to the left of Schumann or to the right of Chopin." This is undoubtedly what inspired Nelson Goerner for the new recital program. All that was missing was the "exotic" touch of Albéniz and his Iberia to make it a first-rate pianistic cocktail for one evening.
