Pierre Boulez Great Hall – Philharmonie
With his son Michael on the violin and composer Jörg Widmann on the clarinet, Daniel Barenboim pays tribute to a family friend, Pierre Boulez, and his resolutely avant-garde work for electronics in relation to instrumental playing.
At the origin of Ircam, Boulez never ceased to invest in the field of computer music, notably in its relations with the instrumental, which also provided him with solutions to his aesthetic concerns. In Dialogue de l'ombre double , it is thus the principle of the "response" which finds new finery. The device is quite rudimentary, but the dramaturgical effect striking. In Anthèmes 2 , which also draws on the sources of liturgical music, the interactions between the violin and the electronics become increasingly fine and chiseled. This research will be nourished and extended by Philippe Manoury, notably in Das Wohlpräparierte Klavier , whose title, literally "The well-prepared keyboard", is a nod to more than one repertoire.
