After studying with the famous Chaim Taub, and in New York with Pinchas Zukerkman, in 2000 he became Konzertmeister of the Berliner Philharmoniker (the youngest in the history of the orchestra), a position he held for 12 years.

His international career began as a soloist with the Berliner Philharmoniker and Simon Rattle, then with the Staatskapelle Berlin and Daniel Barenboim. A regular guest of the Hamburger Symphoniker, he continued his activities as a conductor and chamber musician with, among others, Andras Schiff, Mitsuko Ushida, Yefim Bronfman, and Angelika Kirchschlager. He plays one of the rare violins by Francesco Ruggieri from 1679.
