Arcadi Volodos combines exceptional virtuosity, boundless imagination, and poetic depth, making him one of the most fascinating pianists of our time.Born in Saint Petersburg in 1972, he began his musical studies with singing and conducting before dedicating himself to the piano at the age of 15. He studied at the conservatories of Saint Petersburg and Moscow, then continued his training in Paris and Madrid. Since his debut in New York in 1996, Volodos has performed with the world’s leading orchestras (Berliner Philharmoniker, Concertgebouw, Orchestre de Paris, New York Philharmonic), under the baton of conductors such as Christoph Eschenbach and Riccardo Chailly. A renowned interpreter of Schubert, Brahms and Rachmaninoff, he also enjoys exploring lesser-known composers such as Mompou. His recordings on Sony Classical — Volodos Plays Mompou, Volodos Plays Brahms, Volodos Plays Schubert — have been widely acclaimed and awarded (Gramophone Award, Edison, Diapason d’Or). He regularly appears in Europe’s most prestigious concert halls, from the Philharmonie de Paris to the Salzburg Festival.
